Man Dies Providing Breath Test

Posted by Richard Lawson | Oct 20, 2014 | 0 Comments

In a sad story without much explanation, a 60-year-old man died Sunday while providing a breath sample at the jail.  The deceased had earlier been in a car accident and was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Athens-Clarke County Georgia.

Apparently during the breath test he died.  An autopsy has been ordered and will be performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.  Speculation as to the cause serves no purpose.  However, this tragedy does make me question as to whether there should be a medical pre-qualification to submit to this kind of testing.   My prayers are with the family of the deceased.

My prayers are also with the police officers involved in this case.  No one could have suspected that such a routine activity could lead to a person's death.
