According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, 19 people were killed in vehicle accidents in Georgia this past weekend. In addition, there were 622 wrecks. This is up from 13 deaths and 303 accidents last year. Twice as many accidents is frankly alarming. AJC Link.
Please be careful. Have a designated driver. Just as important and dangerous is fatigued driving. Many studies have shown that fatigued driving is even more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Sometimes a person does not realize how tired they are until they start driving.
If you are tired, stay home. If you are visiting relatives or friends, ask to sleep on the couch if you are too tired to drive home. Get a cab and come back for your car the next day. These simple steps will help you avoid legal problems, and more importantly, the possibility of hurting yourself or someone else.
Our office handles Georgia DUI cases and other traffic related misdemeanors. However, our wish (like anyone else) is the safety of all persons on the road, as well as justice and fairness for the accused. Please be careful this holiday season. Your family is counting on you to stay safe and to be mindful of others. Happy Holidays!
