Be Careful Around the Georgia 400 Toll Plaza

Posted by Richard Lawson | Nov 24, 2013 | 0 Comments

As most drivers know, the toll on GA 400 ended on Friday.  Over the next several months the State will be tearing down the toll plaza and re-routing traffic.  As of today, drivers were funneled to the two far left lanes while the rest of the plaza area was closed. This is a major change from prior to the closure of the toll plaza.

Drivers should slow down well before the toll plaza area, as there are only two lanes open versus more than 10 lanes prior to the ending of the toll.  In addition, there will be drivers unaware of the change and those drivers will be unaware to move over to the far left lane.  Be aware of your surroundings and of other drivers. Remember that occasional users of this roadway may not know of these changes.

Finally, regulate your speed accordingly.  I have no doubt the Georgia State Patrol and the Sandy Springs Police will be issuing citations to drivers who speed or impede the flow of traffic.  In addition, over the next few months, traffic will be directed around further construction. You cannot rely on today's flow of traffic.  Pay attention to your speed and any new directional signage.

Don't let the good news of the toll ending turn into a car accident because you did not pay attention to other drivers.  Don't get a citation for following too closely, speeding, or impeding traffic because you used the ending of the toll as an excuse for abandoning common sense.

Please drive carefully over the holidays!
