Even though my website specifically states that we are available on weekends, nights, and holidays, many are surprised we are really available to talk.
When a person is arrested in Atlanta, the case will be set for the next business day. Since no person at the jail knows who will have the resources to make bond, all cases are set for the next day. If arrested on Thursday night through Sunday evening, the case will be set for Arraignment in Atlanta Municipal Court on Monday at 8:00 A.M. or at 3:00 P.M.
As a result, it's necessary for attorneys to be available to callers on the weekend. For cases in Atlanta Municipal Court, our Atlanta DUI Lawyers can make your initial appearance for you. This does not violate your bond, because when a lawyer appears for you, it is as if you appeared yourself. Eventually you will have to appear, but usually that appearance is limited to a final plea day or a trial.
If you decide to appear before hiring one of the Atlanta DUI Attorneys from our office, you must appear early for court. Look at the monitors in the courthouse to confirm your courtroom assignment. Unless otherwise noted, all Atlanta DUI cases are heard in Courtroom 5A before the Honorable Christopher E. Ward.
Judge Ward has been a breath of fresh air in Atlanta Municipal Court. He works hard to manage his calendar, limit inconvenience to the parties and attorneys, and make sure the State timely provides the evidence to the defense. As an added bonus, he is respectful to the parties.
So, if arrested for DUI in Atlanta, call my office any time over the weekend. We are here to help when you need it most. We are available every Monday morning so you can get back to your work, school, or responsibilities at home. Act now!
