As a Georgia DUI Lawyer, I will focus on accidents and DUIs in Georgia in today's post.
Accidents and DUIs in Georgia
If a DUI charge involves a car accident, the accident can actually be used as evidence to show that the accused driver was in fact less safe to drive.Â
An officer's duty is to aid all distressed or injured drivers, so if the accident results in injury or distress, the officer will investigate the cause of the accident and whether driving under the influence was a factor. This can and will lead to DUI testing such as Georgia DUI Breath and Blood Tests, Georgia Field Sobriety Tests, or both.Â
When an accident is a part of a Georgia DUI case, the potential for the Georgia DUI Penalties to be increased is quite high.
Both Serious Injury by Vehicle and Vehicular Homicide in Georgia are classified as felony offenses. Either of these offenses means some serious prison time and a years of license suspension.Â
