Barrow County News reports that DUI arrests have increased in Winder, Georgia. Increased patrols and government concentration on DUI enforcement have almost doubled arrests since 2012.
Cpl. Chris Wigner of the Winder Police Department has been particularly credited for increased enforcement. His duties include traffic enforcement, DUI enforcement, and handling accidents involving injuries.
MADD awarded Wigner as a “DUI Hero” for having more than 100 DUI Arrests in the following calendar year.
Winder Chief of Police, Jim Fullington, has prioritized making the roads safer for all drivers. That means focusing on more than just DUI enforcement. The Chief wants his office to enforce all traffic laws to make the roadways safer in his community.
Drivers should be aware that if they are speeding or committing any other traffic violation, they risk being pulled-over and cited. It would be smart to slow down while traveling through Winder. Also remember that the City of Winder includes portions of the interstate highway.
To raise revenue, cities annex a small part of Georgia highways to write tickets. As a result, the police can cite people from other counties and states. This practice avoids angering their citizens. Additionally, out-of-state and out-of-county drivers are far more likely to pay their tickets by mail rather than come back to the local jurisdiction to attend court. This increases revenue by decreasing court-time use and other local resources.
The silver lining for out-of-state and out-of-county drivers is that a person accused of a traffic violation can call a Georgia Traffic Ticket Lawyer to attend court on their behalf. Your Atlanta Traffic Ticket Lawyer can appear in court and save you the trip! Call now. Your case will not resolve itself.
