Spaghetti Junction's northbound lanes were finally reopened this morning after a deadly crash on I-85 involving two tractor-trailers during the Wednesday morning commute. The I-285 north ramp to I-85 was continued to be blocked due to the accident clean-up.
According to the AJC, the driver of one of the tractor-trailers was coming off the ramp from I-285 to I-85 and lost control. The trailer of the truck was struck by the cab of another truck that was traveling north. The trailer of the first truck was split in half and the as of yet unidentified driver was killed.
DeKalb Fire Rescue was not able to remove the deceased from the cab of the truck at the scene so that part is being sent to the DeKalb Medical Examiner's Office. The driver of the other truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash created a diesel spill and DeKalb Hazmat crews were called out for the clean-up.
