The AJC has reported that the husband of a woman killed on their wedding day in a car crash in December has been arrested in connection with the crash.
Ryan Quinton, 27, from Jasper, married Kali Dobson, 25, on December 29, 2013. After their reception, the sports car Quinton was driving went off the road and down an embankment. The car rolled over and Dobson was thrown from the vehicle from the passenger seat. She was pronounced at the scene.
Quinton was taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee campus to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Georgia State Patrol Troopers had said that charges were pending.
Warrants were taken out Monday for Quinton's arrest for DUI, first degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and laying drag. He surrendered Wednesday morning to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and was released that evening on a $25,000 bond.
First degree vehicular homicide is considered a felony in Georgia if it is proven that Mr. Quinton was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or was driving recklessly. The punishment could be 3 to 15 years of imprisonment on this charge alone.
