What started out as one guy trying to swindle a locksmith out of payment for his services Sunday night turned into a deadly crash that killed one teenage girl and injured two others, one of them critically.
It is believed that Garrett Anderson, 23, of Kennesaw had requested the services of locksmith Tansu Kanlica, 27, of Atlanta Sunday evening. Anderson allegedly drove away without paying Kanlica for his locksmith services, so Kanlica chased him in his Nissan 350z.
Kanlica ran his car off the road, onto the sidewalk, and into the three pedestrian teenagers.  He left the scene of the accident, but was located later a few miles away.
Reina As-Salaam, 15, of East Point, died at the scene of the 7:15PM crash. Her friends Juliana Ferrell and Monica Epps of Cobb County were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where Juliana was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and Monica with non life-threatening injuries that included broken bones.
Kanlica has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the 1st degree, 2 counts of hit-and-run resulting in serious injury, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. He is currently in the Cobb County Jail without bond.
Anderson was charged with homicide by vehicle in the 1st degree and 2 counts of serious injury by vehicle as well, along with theft of services and reckless driving. He is also currently in the Cobb County Jail without bond.
