Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes Into Grady Ambulance

Posted by Richard Lawson | May 05, 2014 | 0 Comments

Around 4:00 a.m. Friday morning a Grady Hospital ambulance crew was taken to the hospital after a suspected drunk driver ran into their ambulance.

The AJC says that a gray pickup truck ran a red light and struck the ambulance as it was traveling north on Boulevard through the Irwin Street intersection in Midtown Atlanta.  The driver of the truck attempted to keep going, but the truck became disabled after the crash and one of its wheels fell off.

The driver of the truck was charged with DUI and “failing to obey an electronic traffic signal.”  He was taken to the hospital to get treatment for his injuries.

Two ambulance crew members were also taken to the hospital for treatment of the injuries they sustained in the wreck.
