Two Pedestrians Killed When Hit by Barnesville Police Car

Posted by Richard Lawson | May 17, 2014 | 0 Comments

An on-duty Barnesville Georgia police officer struck two pedestrians with his police car as they were crossing the road in Lamar County early Friday morning.

The incident happened around 1 AM near GA 7 near Grove Street in Barnesville when Quentin Byrd, 21, and Justin Sullivan, 25, were attempting to cross the street.  The two men were crossing the south lanes of the four-lane highway when they were struck by a Barnesville Police car driven by Terry Belvin, 44.

Belvin was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries.

The incident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol's “Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.”  As always, it will be interesting to see if the GSP can fairly investigate another police officer.
