Unidentified Georgia Driver Crashes Through Guard Rails and Drives the Wrong Way up The I-75 Express Lane

Posted by Richard Lawson | Oct 29, 2018 | 0 Comments

According to reports out of Henry County, a currently unidentified driver may be facing serious charges after being released from the hospital. The driver has been accused of plowing through nine different barriers on the new express lane on I-75. This led to a head-on crash.

The nine different barriers included eight warning stop arms and one metal barrier gate. The head-on collision was followed by a third vehicle hitting the second car from behind.

Unfortunately, as a Georgia DUI Lawyer, I see cases like this more often than I'd like to. As of right now, the police believe that the driver was under the influence and have prepared warrants for when he gets released from the hospital. The good news is that the two other drivers were treated for what were described as minor injuries and were released the same day as the accident.

In today's post, I will focus on DUI Accidents in Georgia.

Accidents and DUI Cases in Georgia

Accidents and DUIs commonly are charged together. If a car accident occurs alongside an arrest for DUI in Georgia, the accident can actually be used to support the DUI charge. This is because the accident itself may in fact demonstrate that the accused driver was less safe to drive.

Moreover, Georgia DUI Penalties, are very likely to be even more severe when an accident is involved. This is true even if there is no real person or property damage. In the case above, the driver is looking at a lot of property damage and injury to other people if the reported facts are true.

Car accidents can also lead to additional charges such as:

Even hitting or damaging a guard rail is a criminal offense known as striking a fixed object. This offense alone could lead to the requirement of paying restitution for repairs.
