I do not ordinarily report on daily DUI and traffic arrests, but today there is an inordinate amount of news today.
I woke up today to the new of a nine-vehicle crash in Henry County Georgia. Unfortunately, there has been a fatality, and all lanes of Interstate-75 were closed. The Georgia State Patrol responded and the case is under investigation.
The second story is incredibly sad. It involves a person with an alleged blood-alcohol level of .566, a sign of overt alcohol poisoning. It is remarkable that the suspect is still alive. I hope she survives and then goes into an in-patient treatment facility. She needs serious help.
Finally, and far less sympathetic, is the re-arrest of former NFL player Jamal Anderson. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has charged him with driving on a suspended license and a move-over law violation. His license was suspended for a prior DUI Arrest in Gwinnett County.
As we tell all of our clients, you cannot drive until your license is reinstated, and that does not happen automatically. When a person's license is suspended, they must take active steps to restore their driver's license. This usually involves attending a DUI Risk Reduction class and the payment of a reinstatement fee. For multiple offenders, there are other steps we cover in this website.
