Atlanta Police have released a surveillance video of Monday's hit-and-run in Morningside that has left a bicyclist hospitalized for days.
The video is only nine seconds long but shows a red Dodge Nitro traveling down Flagler Avenue going one direction and then disappears from view. Next in the video a cyclist can be seen riding down the street going the OPPOSITE direction and shortly afterward, the Dodge Nitro is following the cyclist.
Police have said the SUV struck cyclist Gregory Germani and drove away. Germani was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon and police are still looking for the driver of the SUV.
Witnesses told police that Germani and the driver of the SUV had exchanged choice words mere moments before Germani was hit by the vehicle. He had been riding his bike on Montgomery Ferry Road when the SUV almost hit him when it was turning from Flagler Avenue. That is when Germani got into an argument with the driver of the vehicle.
After the argument Germani rode down Flagler Avenue at a speed that in the video makes it look like he's running from the SUV and it is following him. Since the SUV driver turned to follow the cyclist, this shows that this is more than a normal traffic accident. It shows intent, and as a result, the SUV driver will likely be charged with Aggravated Assault.
Witnesses to the incident found Germani underneath a silver SUV parked along the side of the curb of Flagler Avenue. The Dodge Nitro fled the scene and turned right onto Rock Springs Road.
Police are still on the lookout for the vehicle and asks the public for their help. They say the SUV may have damage on the front and maybe left side and the driver could possibly be an African-American male under the age of thirty.
The Crime Stoppers number is 404-577-TIPS (8477).

First they have to find the SUV, then they have to prove who was driving. I hope the cyclist recovers and can identify his attacker.

I think they will find it at a chop shop. It’s hard to hide an automobile
